Students who are not in these programs are encouraged to check CMU’s website for equivalencies at other institutions. *PSL 450 requires that both PSL 431 and 432 be completed prior to enrolling in PSL 450. Prerequisite or enrollment limit overrides will not be granted. For non-Physiology majors that have completed PSL 431 and 432, you can submit a major restriction override request. |

Medical scribe experience as a scribe is invaluable to documentation and observational learning, but hands-on patient care experience is not part of the scribe’s responsibility. As such, a scribe may use maximum of 500 hours of scribe work as part of the patient care requirement, but the remainder must be in some capacity in which you have direct patient interaction.

Direct Patient Contact Hours |
As an applicant, you must have completed at least 750 hours of direct patient care experience* as an employee in a medical office, hospital, or extended-care facility. Acceptable roles include CNA (certified nursing assistant), medical assistant, EMT (emergency medical technician) or paramedic, radiology technician, ECG technician, LPN or RN, phlebotomist, medical scribe**, physical therapy assistant, surgical tech, respiratory therapist, chiropractor, athletic trainer and others. Patient care experiences obtained through the military (combat medic, field medical tech, etc.) are also competitive. Please contact the program with any questions regarding qualifying patient care experience. You may apply to the PA program prior to completing the patient care experience hours but must indicate a plan for completion on your application and have completed at least 500 of the 750 total hours at the time of application. *This is defined as direct, hands on care of patients and the most competitive candidates will have 1000+ hours of direct patient care experience with the required hours completed at the time of application. **Medical scribe experience can account for up to 500 hours of the total hours required but must be combined with actual hands on experience of at least 250 hours. |

Prerequisite Information |
Prerequisites (execpt Anatomy and Physiology) must be completed within ten years of matriculation. Antatomy and Physiology must be completed within 5 years of matriculation. You may have one outstanding prerequisite at the time of application but must successfully complete by the time of matriculation and must meet the required course minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. |

2 The prerequisite to get into ANTR 485 is at least a 3.0 in ANTR 350 or KIN 216 and
KIN 217 or IBIO 328. Also, pre-approval by written application and attendance
at the orientation meeting is required for all new students. Enrollment is on a first-come
