Perfusionist Programs and Prerequisites
Lawrence Tech University in Southfield is the first perfusion program in Michigan. The inaugural class was welcomed in fall 2022. This program was recently granted accreditation by CAA-HEP.

PREREQUISITES
Prerequisites will vary between perfusion programs, please consult with your top programs. Typical prerequisites for perfusion programs include:
- Human Anatomy with lab – ANTR 350 with 355 or 485
- Human Physiology with lab – PSL 310 with PSL 311L
- At least one semester of inorganic chemistry – CEM 141 and 161
- At least one semester of organic chemistry – CEM 143 or CEM 251
- At least one semester of Physics – PHY 231/251
- Microbiology with lab - MMG 301 and 302 or MMG 201 and 302
- Statistics – STT 200, 201, or 231
- College algebra – MTH 103 or higher
- Two semesters of English Composition (WRA 101 and tier II writing)
- Courses in social science, including
- Intro Psychology – PSY 101
- Intro Sociology – SOC 100
- Courses in the humanities – Philosophy, IAH, languages, music, art, theater
- Medical terminology – LB 270 (offered online during summers only
