Optometry Admission Test
ABOUT THE OAT
Why take the OAT? The OAT is required by ALL optometry schools and is administered year round by Prometric test centers as a computerized exam.
Cost: $450 registration fee, which includes scores sent during registration for up to 5 schools. Scores sent to additional schools costs $36 per school.
Test Dates: All year
Computerized: Yes
Length: 4 hours and 50 minutes
Scores: 200-400 per section (325 = avg. score for admission at Michigan College of Optometry)
Important Notes: NO penalty for guessing
Unofficial test score report and explanation received immediately upon completion of OAT no other score report will be sent to the examinee. Official scores released to schools 3-4 weeks later.
Examinees must wait 90 days between testing attempts. Applicants who have three or more OAT attempts must apply for permission to test again. From that point forward, they may retest only once per 12-month period.
